Role: UX Researcher and Designer

Goal: Create a shopping app the is easy to use and navigate.

Target Audience: Those who are fans of Asian pop culture and those who are too busy to shop in person.

Key Challenges/Constraints:

  • First experience with UX research and design

  • Conducted every step in process without a team

Research Conducted:

Observed customers of a comparable store. Created user personas and user study maps. Tested designs five users using remote moderated usability studies.

Initial Concepts/Design Strategy:

For my initial paper wireframes, I wanted simple layouts for the app. These simple layouts would allow for users to easily navigate around the app without much trouble and clutter. Users want an easy way to shop and they don't want to have to navigate through complicated screens to get the products that they want.

Results of User Testing:

  • Users wanted an easier way to access their cart

  • Users expected buttons to notify them when an action was completed

  • Users found the feature of a wish-list to be beneficial

Conclusion:

The next steps in this project is to do one final usability test to see if every problem has been resolved with users. This project taught me a lot about the full UX design and research process and will be a reference to me for future design work.
