Write Here Write Now App and Website
This project took place from August—October 2023 and fulfilled the prompt of creating an app and responsive website for social good as part of my UX certification course.
Links:
Role: UX Researcher and Designer
Goal: Create an app/responsive website that caters to teens who want to learn either on the go or in their free time.
Target Audience: Teens who want to practice, improve on, and learn how to write creatively on the go anytime they want.
Key Challenges/Constraints:
-
Had to conceptualize entire app and website
-
Built mockups for four different end products
-
Conducted every step in process without a team
Research Conducted:
Viewed websites that were comparable to the services that I would be offering. Took notes on what features were beneficial to users and asked those around me what they look for regarding website interface that they would like to see. Created user personas and user journey paths to empathize with users.

Initial Concepts/Design Strategy:
Creating the mobile app came first. For the initial designs, I used Crazy 8's to conceptualize what I wanted the screens to look like. For the website screens, I created a sitemap before laying out the screens and did another round of Crazy 8's. Then I based those screen designs on the app's design with some minor changes.

Results of User Testing:
-
Users wanted a more obvious location for their feedback, some took a long time to locate
-
Users wanted an easier way to find other places to write
-
Users like community aspects like commenting, but wish there was a way to either hide comments or not allow comments
Final Polished Designs

Conclusion:
The next steps in this project is to do one final usability test to see if every problem has been resolved with users. This project taught me how to work from the bottom up when building an app and responsive website. It helped me branch out and try out other UX designs for products that aren't primarily for shopping and with a more precise audience.
